It’s Guitar Month
Dallas International Guitar Festival — 30 years strong
By Désirée A. Henry
Last Wednesday, at the preview party for the 30th Annual Guitar Show, not only was guitarist and world-renowned chef Dean Fearing serving up delectable food samples at The Granada Theater, but Kurt Cobain’s 1953 Acoustic Martin sat perfect in its glass case, waiting for its new home.
It’s just one of the many items for auction April 14-15 at Heritage Auction Galleries, as part of a collaboration with the upcoming guitar show.
Anyone who loves anything about guitar playing should head to Dallas Market Hall the weekend after the auction, April 20-22, to experience the 30th International Guitar Festival extravaganza.
From the latest in Marshall gear to vintage Vox amps, you can buy, sell, bid, trade, bargain, and beckon from the array of displays and booths, all centered around aural satisfaction.
Along with a display of many Eric Clapton guitars — even his specially designed “Blackie” sponsored by PRS guitars, there will be plenty of live music, too.

Guitar Fact: Ovation Guitars was founded by Charles Kaman in the late 60s. Kaman was a guitarist and aerospace engineer, fearful that the wooded guitar was dated and space-age materials were more relaible sound generators, like this 1975 Ovation Deacon solid-body electric guitar.
